MMS SEMINAR: SENIOR MANAGERS AND CERTIFICATION REGIME

The Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR), to which UK banks, building societies, credit unions and PRA-designated investment firms are presently subject, will be extended in 2018 to cover all FSMA authorised firms.

Implementation of the SMCR will be a significant regulatory challenge for firms, and the FCA has already issued Feedback Statements regarding implementation of the regime by banks in which it noted several recurring deficiencies in the documentation supplied to it.

In implementing the SMCR, firms will need to consider issues such as:

1. Maintaining a comprehensive and up to date management responsibilities map that
describes their governance arrangements and is consistent with the statements of responsibilities
    prepared for senior staff.
2.  Identifying their senior manager, certification and conduct rules staff pools.
3. Ensuring their employment contracts, policies and procedures comply with the new regime.

This seminar, timed to take place shortly after publication of the rules by which the SMCR will be extended, will see a cross-disciplinary team of MMS speakers address the various challenges posed by the new regime.

PROCUREMENT: DEFENCE AND SECURITY

An Essential Guide on Bidding, Supplying, Cyber Security and Export Support

Europe's public sector bodies spend large amounts of money every year across a variety of sectors. While public procurement offers a huge business opportunity to SMEs, it can be a difficult market to access. Following on from last year's successful procurement masterclass, the Enterprise Europe Network at London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is revisiting the topic with additional highlights, current procedures and topical content.

Whether your objective is to bid successfully for public sector contracts or become part of the wider supply chain via established prime contractors and OEMs, this complimentary event has been designed to provide you with invaluable insight into the complex world of defence and security procurement. Following a series of presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to put questions to a panel of experts.

Please note that places are limited and registrations for this event are subject to approval by LCCI, based on suitability and relevance. Companies will be sent a confirmation email within two working days of booking if their application has been successful.

BREAKING THE USA EXPORT MARKET

The United States of America (USA) is the UK's top export destination and is the largest, most competitive and technologically advanced economy in the world. Furthermore, it has the world's largest private sector, low regulatory barriers, minimal language barriers, access to global supply chain, which can lead to exports for other market and a strong rule of law. While this sounds like a dream for many UK companies, considerations for some its complexities needs to be carefully deliberated.

This event, via a panel discussion and roundtable session will cover key aspects of how to break in to the market and the steps your business needs to consider, including (but not restricted to):

  • The legal barriers, licensing and technology transfer to and within the US
  • Market entry strategies and how to access local support and contacts
  • An economic overview delivered by the US Embassy in London
  • Hiring local talent, talent management, local presence versus virtual office
  • Business culture

Eligibility: established UK scalable to medium sized companies with a maximum of £6.5 million
Sectors: Technology (including FinTech, HealthTech, Retail, Education), food and drink and professional services

NETWORKING EVENT FOR ENTREPRENEURS & DRIVEN PROFESSIONALS

Join our exclusive networking event for professional people sharing interests, experiences and ideas.

Attend this event if you want to meet people from a range of industries across the city and grow your social and professional network.

Networking can be a great way to either grow your business or professional network but it does take time. The grand surroundings of a unique event space offers attendees an informal opportunity to build and strengthen their professional network, with a reserved space where you can sit and exchange ideas, information and resources.

An optional (one minute) pitch followed by free-flowing networking activities will allow you to have conversations with others and build connections instead of just collecting business cards! This set up might not mean instant leads but it is a great way to allow for collaboration and discussion where genuine professional partnerships can be made.

There are no restrictions on the number or type of industry that people work in but registration is important for us to get feedback and continually improve the events we arrange. Drinks and nibbles are complementary.

Change your perspective and improve confidence with our invaluable 'How To Work A Room' workshop, a must attend event if you are a new networker, or looking to become more effective. The training, which includes an interactive Q&A session, aims to remove barriers and eliminate fears by providing focus, practical tools, tips and relevant techniques, with content being shaped by participants' questions and concerns.
