WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEADER?

The workshop focuses on a number of the skills that good leaders possess, inviting attendees to explore ideas they may hold around leadership, raise levels of self-awareness, look at the issue of communications, as well as each individuals own business objectives, and what might be stopping these objectives from being fulfilled.

What you'll achieve at the end of the workshop

With clear leadership and direction, your business will be able to better build well-defined plans, clear communication channels and an ability to elicit change (as necessary) with an understanding throughout the business of what needs to be done, and by whom.

About the trainer

Jackie Smyth owner of  JPS Coaching, a business school trained coach and consultant.  With a close affinity for the SME sector gained from a long career in corporate communications, she has worked at a variety of stages in the growth cycle of a business: from start-up, to building the business and introducing staff and talent strategies, to managing relocations, rationalizations, a merger, a management buy-out and, finally, a trade sale to a large international group.

ASIAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (ABA) DINNER

The ABA Dinner is the premier gathering in the Asian business calendar, bringing together guests from a range of industries and is open to Asian and non-Asian businesses.  This year's dinner will take place on Tuesday 25 April at a prestigious central London location and we are delighted to welcome Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP as our guest speaker.

Dr Fox is responsible for UK plans to deliver new trade and investment policies to promote UK business across the globe as well as to negotiate free trade agreements and market access deals. These will be crucial in the Indian subcontinent region and it was significant that India was the destination for Theresa May's first trade mission as Prime Minister last November, on which she was accompanied by the Secretary of State.  UK trade development in the run-up to and post-Brexit could not be more important and this will be a timely opportunity to get Dr Fox's views on, and plans for, the challenges and opportunities that face the vibrant British trading community.

Up to 400 guests will attend this prestigious evening to rub shoulders with key figures from business, central and local government, arts and media, high commissioners, life peers and top Asian entrepreneurs.  The occasion provides a perfect and unique way to entertain colleagues or clients. Tables of ten are available as well as individual places.

UNITED NATIONS BUSINESS CLINIC

The UN is a promising market for UK companies as the UN overall procurement volume (goods and services combined) of the various UN organisations is worth around £12 billion per year. UN procurement is suitable for small as well as larger companies because payment is guaranteed. In addition, English is the working language and the UK has an excellent reputation among the UN agencies, being the UN's ninth largest supplier in 2015. Although these organisations present huge purchasing opportunities, it is essential to be well prepared and familiar with the purchasing process. It is important to know how to register your company to be invited to bid, and to know which international organisation could be most interested in your company's products or services.

Eleanor Baha, Trade Attaché, British Embassy - Department for International Trade (DIT),Geneva and Joanne Ganthier, Trade Adviser at the British Embassy in Copenhagen will be offering expert advice on how UK suppliers of goods and services can take advantage of the significant export opportunities through supplying the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Rome and Copenhagen

NETWORKING TRAINING: HOW TO WORK A ROOM

Hate the thought of networking? Want to learn how to get the results you need from the events you attend?

Walking into a room full of strangers can be daunting for most people - even 'seasoned' networkers! For many, the fear of networking at events stops them attending or has them standing unsure at the edge of the room, missing out on expanding their professional network, or raising their personal profile and the profile of their business.

Change your perspective and improve confidence with our invaluable 'How To Work A Room' workshop, a must attend event if you are a new networker, or looking to become more effective. The training, which includes an interactive Q&A session, aims to remove barriers and eliminate fears by providing focus, practical tools, tips and relevant techniques, with content being shaped by participants' questions and concerns.

Following the training, you can practise your newly acquired skills over a light supper with up to 50 other participants.
