ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE GDPR?

Every organisation processes personal data of some sort. The General Data Protection Regulation, which has already been adopted, comes into force on 25 May 2018 and provides strict governance on how personal data should be handled. Fail to comply and it could mean fines of up to 20m, or 4% of your global annual turnover.

This session will give you an overview of how your organisation can comply with the GDPR and provide practical advice on how to preserve your organisations reputation and avoid large penalties. Stew Hogg, Head of Cyber Security at Waterstons will outline the practical steps organisations can take to ensure they are ready for this shake up in data protection legislation. In addition Stew will also explore how a GDPR readiness programme can be used as a force for good and help organisations to have confidence that their critical data assets and systems are protected.

At 20 St Dunstans Hill, London EC3R 8HL
Time 8.30am - 10.30am

PROPERTY AND CONSTRUCTION BREAKFAST CLUB

The Voice of London's Property and Construction Industry

London Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (LCCI) Property and Construction Group is an established support forum for our members who are concerned in any way with property, building development, planning, design and construction.

The Property and Construction Breakfast Club is a series of four briefings a year (this is the fourth) featuring a keynote address from a leading industry figure. These events are designed to help you connect with senior decision makers, promote your business to a targeted sector, gain access to leading industry figures and keep up-to-date with trends and developments in a relaxed setting.

At the event, attendees can network over breakfast before hearing from our guest speaker Mary Finnigan, Director of European Transactions, WeWork who will discuss WeWork's ethos, future plans and the flexibility offered by shared workspaces - with a focus on buildings which adapt to businesses rather than having to bend to fit the constraints of buildings. She will also give her thoughts on the key issues that are currently affecting the industry. Guests will also be able to put their questions to Mary during a brief Q&A session.

CHINA: *ONE-TO-ONE BUSINESS CLINICS

With a population of 1.3 billion, China is the world's second largest economy. It is increasingly playing an important and influential role in global economics, with the country being the largest contributor to world growth since the global financial crisis of 2008. This is further driven by the very rapid growth of the Chinese middle class, representing just 4% of the population in 2000 and on track to reach 70% by 2020. China presents many opportunities for UK businesses, including, but not limited to, those operating in technology, agriculture and medicine, alongside consumer brands. All these industry sectors have seized the opportunity and are making a success of China.

Andy Clayton, CEO, LNP China, and Alex Phillips, Sales and Marketing Director, LNP China, are spending a full day at LCCI to advise UK SMEs seeking to enter the Chinese market. Their advice will be specific to your business needs and will assess your readiness to export to this exciting and growing market.

COMPANY MISSION TO VIETNAM: HO CHI MINH CITY AND HANOI

Vietnam is one of the most vibrant economies in Asia, with a large market for capital goods and a growing domestic market for consumer goods. It has an ambitious programme of major infrastructure developments including new urban railway networks, a new international hub airport and expansion of regional airports.

The food and beverage sector is considered among the rising sectors in Vietnam, thanks to its 95 million emerging market population and its fast GDP growth over several years (6.21% in 2015, 6.68% in 2014). Vietnamese consumers are shifting towards consumption of beverages with higher value, creating gaps for penetration to high-end beverage segments. Though both local and foreign players have attempted to respond to this shift, overseas companies currently enjoy the edge because Vietnamese consumers favour international brands.

The company mission will include B2B tailored agenda with interested contacts and prospects in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. As well as meetings with distributors, buyers and partners in Vietnam.

    Sectors: Food and Drink
    On:
    Monday 29 January - Saturday 3 February 2018
Closing date: Friday 10 November 2017

PROTECT YOUR IPR IN MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE

In cooperation with the South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk, LCCI is organising a workshop on the intellectual property regime in Singapore and Malaysia.

The workshop aims to assist EU SMEs to both protect and enforce their intellectual property rights (IPRs) in both countries. The target audience of this workshop are both British SMEs with an interest in expanding their business, and those already present in Singapore and Malaysia. The workshop will contribute to improving the knowledge and capacity of the attendees so that they can access, diffuse and use IPR more efficiently in global markets. With IP being one of the core assets of any given company, a thorough understanding of the IP regime in these foreign markets is crucial.

In addition to the workshop, the IP Expert of the South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk will be available to provide practical business advice during one-on-one consultations.
