LCCI comment on Higgins' report on HS2

Commenting on the report "HS2 Plus" by David Higgins, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Colin Stanbridge said: "We are pleased that the Higgins' report supports, as we do, a major redevelopment of Euston station.

"The current proposals lack ambition and risk squandering the unique window of opportunity presented by HS2 to transform Euston and its surrounding area into a capital Gateway - similar to that successfully undertaken at Kings Cross and St Pancras.

"The report findings also present a chance to find a better way to link HS1 and HS2. Ensuring a fully integrated UK transport network should form the bedrock of the HS2 project so it is crucial to ensure that practical links to our existing transport network are maximised, not only in regards to linking to HS1, but also that the UK's hub airport, Heathrow, is directly plugged into the main HS2 line."
