The Windsor Agreement

Date

Time

10.00am - 11.00am

Overview

On 27 February 2023 the UK and EU agreed the Windsor Framework, providing a fundamentally new set of arrangements to restore the smooth flow of trade within the UK internal market; safeguard Northern Ireland’s place in the Union; and address the democratic deficit that was otherwise at the heart of the original Northern Ireland Protocol.

We are delighted that Stuart Anderson, Director of Public Affairs, Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce will be speaking at this practical webinar for exporters. Stuart will explain the rules and highlight the changes that exporters need to know. There will also be the opportunity for you to ask your questions.

Stuart leads NI Chamber’s direct interactions with politicians, helping to shape the legislative agenda and supporting elected representatives to create the right conditions for business and economic growth. He works directly with NI Chamber members in all sectors, identifying their challenges and bringing forward their ideas as part of a collaborative approach between industry and policy makers. A qualified lawyer, he is also the current Convenor of the Northern Ireland Business Brexit Working Group.

Classifying your Goods and Understanding Customs Procedures Codes

Date

Time

10.00am - 11.00am

Overview

Industrial goods are classified in terms of their relative cost and how they enter the production process. These commodity codes are internationally recognised reference numbers, they are used to identify products when importing or exporting goods.

Businesses need to find the right commodity code for all types of goods when importing or exporting. Although many countries have signed up to the same classification system, only the first 6 digits are used worldwide.

Customs Procedure codes are defined HMRC codes required to describe the purpose of overseas shipments. The code is used to determine how your shipment will be processed and how the duties and taxes, if applicable, will be collected.

Smooth transportation of goods and products, will be dependent on the quality of the accompanying paperwork so ensuring you have the correct CPC assigned to your shipment is critical.
