Classifying your Goods and Customs Procedure Codes

Commodity Codes are the language of International Trade, all industrial goods traded around the world are classified in terms of their relative cost and how they enter the production process. These codes, also known as tariff or commodity codes, are internationally recognized reference numbers used to identify the products imported or exported. Customs Procedure codes on the other hand are defined HMRC codes required to describe the purpose of overseas shipments. The codes are used to determine how a shipment will be processed and how the duties and taxes, if applicable will be collected.

Smooth transportation of goods and products will be dependent on the quality of the accompanying paperwork; ensuring you have the correct CPC assigned to your shipment and commodity codes to your goods is therefore critical and can be the difference between a successful shipment or a lengthy and costly customs compliance journey. Join the London Chamber and our Trusted Trainers International Trade Matters in this webinar collaboration where trade expert Mike Court will explore the complex world of Commodity Coding and Customs Procedure Codes.
