We are working with the Cabinet Office, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the International Chambers of Commerce to ensure that full support is provided to Ukrainian people and businesses.

On Tuesday 30 April, our Fabric of Freedom Fashion Show was held at London Met Uni, in collaboration with the university, UA in UK Community, Creative Headshots London, Olenka Martynyuk and Nataliia Bartkiv. As the world continues to grapple with challenges, events like Fabric of Freedom remind us of the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless potential for positive change through art and creativity.
LCCI proudly presented a Ukraine-themed float at the Lord Mayor's Show in 2023. The float symbolised London's unwavering support for Ukraine, sending a powerful message of solidarity to the international community. To design the float, we collaborated with Big City Lab and Bickerstaff, two prominent agencies from Kyiv, and enlisted Opcyon Design Company for the construction.
Deputy Mayor of London for Business Rajesh Agrawal opened LCCI’s jobs fair for Ukrainian refugees at the Royal Horseguards hotel. 800 jobseekers and 35 employers attended the event to provide the support that refugees need. The jobs fair was organised in collaboration with the DWP, the GLA, City Hall and the Clermont Hotel group.
The inaugural Ukraine networking event gathered significant interest, with more than 110 attendees registering their interest. The panellists shared their expertise on topics ranging from company registration in the UK, different types of businesses, taxation, and LCCI's ongoing Ukrainian Project.
LCCI's report looks at the current state of refugee employment by London businesses, the barriers that are preventing firms from hiring refugees, and what steps can be taken to boost the number of refugees employed by businesses.
Ahead of the Eurovision song contest, delegates from Ukraine and the UK gathered for an historic business event in Liverpool to identify trade and collaboration opportunities between the two nations.
LCCI's float at the Lord Mayor's Show not only signifies solidarity with Ukraine but also represents a continuation of LCCI's commitment to fostering international relationships. It is a testament to the Chamber's dedication to rebuilding and reinvigorating Ukrainian businesses post-conflict, promoting community engagement, and facilitating potential trade relationships and investments between Kyiv and London.
Together with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), we have agreed on an action plan to help Ukrainian refugees find a job. We will transfer all received appeals through the DWP for processing at the Jobcentre Plus network. Those Ukrainian nationals who plan to relocate their business or establish a new one in London or across the UK will receive full support from LCCI and access to a range of business services, from networking events to bespoke advice.
In the run up to Ukraine’s Independence Day on 24 August 2023, LCCI’s James Watkins and Igor Bartkiv visited Ukraine to meet with officials and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ukraine Business Council UAE in Kyiv. This agreement brings together the world’s two biggest financial centres – London and Dubai – to strengthen and support the Ukrainian economy.
