Sadiq Khan must work with businesses for economic stability and growth

Saturday 4 May 2024

Karim Fatehi MBE, Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said: “On behalf of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I would like to offer our congratulations to Sadiq Khan on his re-election as Mayor of London. This result heralds an unprecedented third term for Mr Khan, and we see it as an opportunity to reinvigorate his engagement with London businesses in order to drive greater opportunity, innovation, and prosperity across the capital.

“Now is the time for the Mayor to embrace London’s business community, discuss our shared concerns, and develop a long-term strategic plan to ensure the best possible operating conditions to unlock productivity and economic growth. In particular, we need to see the Mayor deliver on upgrading London’s transport network to include better provision for electric vehicles; updating the planning system in London to increase the number of affordable homes and provision of industrial land across the capital; improving the adult education budget to guarantee the skills that businesses need for the future; and championing London as a city open to business on the global stage.

“We look forward to working closely with the Mayor to help in the delivery of his manifesto promises and in turn, creating a dynamic and prosperous city where businesses small and large can thrive.”
