LCCI Supports Release of LSIP Progress Report 2025

LSIP Progress Report 2025

Monday 30 June 2025

The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is proud to support the publication of the 2025 Progress Report for the London Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), a major milestone in the city’s ongoing effort to align training provision with employer needs.

As an Employer Representative Body (ERB), LCCI works closely with BusinessLDN, the Greater London Authority (GLA), the sub-regional partners (Local London, West London Alliance, Central London Forward and South London Partnership), and the other ERBs (The Confederation of British Industry London, Federation of Small Businesses London, and West London Business), to ensure that the voice of business is central to shaping London’s skills strategy. The LSIP continues to bring together employers, training providers, and policymakers to build a workforce fit for the future.

The latest progress report highlights several key developments:

  • Increased investment in training facilities and courses that reflect priority sectors
  • Strengthened intelligence-sharing across London’s skills ecosystem
  • Development of new and innovative partnerships between education, business, and the public sector

These outcomes reflect growing collaboration across the capital and the benefits of an employer-led approach to skills planning.

Skills Minister Jacqui Smith welcomed the report, stating:

"We remain committed to the LSIP model as part of our Plan for Change, and have strengthened the role that Mayors and Strategic Authorities will play in identifying and addressing the local skills issues in the plans. Skills England will work hand-in-hand with businesses, education providers, Mayors and Strategic Authorities, unions, and other bodies to tackle skills shortages, co-creating solutions to ensure more opportunities for young people and existing workers wherever they are based in the country."

LCCI looks forward to continuing its work with local and regional partners as the LSIP evolves to meet the needs of London’s economy and workforce.
