LCCI call for a EU-UK youth mobility agreement

Friday 16 May 2025

Karim Fatehi OBE, Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry said:

“Ahead of the UK-EU Summit, the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry urges both parties to reach an agreement on youth mobility to support the growth and competitiveness of our economic communities.

“Enabling young people to work and travel across borders would provide a vital talent pipeline for London’s businesses, particularly in sectors facing labour and skills shortages. With businesses having to weather such challenging conditions, a mobility scheme would bolster resilience and support economic growth in London and beyond.

“Such a deal would also strengthen cultural ties and foster long-term collaboration between the UK and Europe, building the base for future reciprocal deals. This is the time for the government to adopt a pragmatic solution that benefits young people, employers and the wider economy.”
