Chief Executive

Richard Burge joined the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) as Chief Executive in February 2020.

Prior to this, Richard was an independent advisor on international affairs focusing on trade, conflict, and development with a portfolio of advisory and consultancy work. Richard’s varied career has seen him lead four multi-million pound organisations as Chief Executive over a total of 18 years.  These comprised a famous charity, a UK government agency, a private company and a membership body. 

He has been on the Board and a non-executive director of five multi-million pound operations including companies, charities, two government agencies, and a UK Russell Group university. Richard has worked in over 55 countries, specialising in Africa, the wider Commonwealth, and post-conflict situations. 

He was Chief Executive, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council from 2017 to 2019.  For the previous eight years, he was Chief Executive of Wilton Park (a Foreign and Commonwealth Office agency for conciliation and dialogue on global issues).  He was also a Commissioner for Commonwealth Scholarships, and on the Council of Durham University.

Other roles include Chief Executive Officer of the Countryside Alliance, Director General of the Zoological Society of London, and for ten years he served with the British Council in Africa and the Middle East.

Financial Director and Secretary

Neil Stanfield has been the finance director and secretary of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2011 having joined the company in 1999 as its Finance Manager.  He joined the Board in 2016.

At LCCI he is responsible for its on-going financial health and the safe custody of its assets.  He is a member of the Board and secretary of the London Chamber of Arbitration, a wholly owned subsidiary of LCCI, and is primary controller of the Chamber’s Protected Cell Company based in Guernsey.

Previously Neil has held various financial roles at firms in both the private and public sector including a train operating company and a charity. Neil qualified as a chartered accountant in 1993 having trained with KPMG.

Director of Membership and Events

Liz Henderson joined the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in October 2018 as the Director of  Membership and Events.

Liz started her career in marketing.  She has a proven track record of delivering transformational brand, loyalty and engagement programmes in a range of large, complex organisations with iconic brands including British Gas, Centrica, the AA and Saga PLC.  As a senior member of the leadership team at the AA she was responsible for the development of a completely revitalised membership proposition to aid retention of the AA’s 4M member base. More latterly in 2017 whilst consulting at Saga she designed and launched a brand new membership scheme for its travel and insurance customers which now has over 1M members.  

Liz holds an MA Hons in Geography, has 3 sons,  is an avid reader and keen skier.
