Meet Our Speakers

Nick Catliff, CEO C-RW - Moderator

Nick Catliff is a highly experienced media executive and business leader. A BBC graduate trainee he worked as a producer and journalist in News, Current Affairs and Documentaries before moving into independent production as co-founder and MD of Lion Television. He grew Lion from a start-up to become a highly respected international production company with bases in London and Glasgow as well as a US subsidiary based in New York.


Richard Stephens - former Military Officer & Director of Othrys/Counter-Ransomware (C-RW)

Richard Stephens is a senior leader with national and international experience across the fields of security, risk and intelligence.  With over a 23-year career in the specialist military, Richard commanded teams from 12 to 1000 people on operations in hostile environments. He has led cross-departmental think tanks for the UK Government and has authored policy for several overseas administrations. Currently serves as a director with Othrys.uk and subsidiary Counter-Ransomware (C-RW).


Nic Miller - former NCSC Officer & CISO Consultant

Nic Miller has spent over 15 years working in the cyber security space, both within GCHQ and the private sector. Nic has experience building highly effective cyber security programs within small and midsize companies. His career started at GCHQ, which was a precursor to the National Cyber Security Center. He has served as CISO for a global, multi-billion-dollar hedge fund.


Dr. Kerry Beynon, Cyber Partner at Harrison Clark Rickerbys Law

Dr. Kerry Beynon is a commercial law solicitor, specialising in intellectual property, information technology, data protection and cyber security law.  Kerry has acted for a broad range of clients from SMEs to international corporations and has a keen interest in governance matters relating to intellectual property, data protection and cyber security.


Gerry Defries - Chartered Accountant @ Defries Weiss Limited

Gerry is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) and a Fellow of the British Institute of Management, with Corporate Finance qualifications and deep experience in that field.  For 45 years, Gerry has run his own thriving Chartered Accountancy firm.  He has been part-time Finance Director on several boards and floated one of the turnarounds on AIM.  His input at Othrys combines technical skills in commercial analysis, financial controls, governance and general management with a creative and independent mentality able to visualise change strategies that inspire trust and buy-in from stakeholders at every level.
