City Giving Day 2024

On Tuesday 24 September, LCCI and City of London Chamber celebrated City Giving Day, an initiative led by the Lord Mayor’s Appeal that enables City companies and employees to celebrate and showcase their philanthropic and volunteering achievements and encourage others to get involved.

The day started at the London Stock Exchange, where our Chief Strategy Officer, Lucie Risley, attended the Open the Markets ceremony and the kick-off of City Giving Day.

We then hosted members and guests in the Members' Lounge for a dedicated networking event as part of the City of London Chamber programme alongside our Programme Partner HRUC (Harrow, Richmond & Uxbridge Colleges), with Liam Plumridge speaking to members about the work they do. We were delighted to welcome The Lord Mayor Michael Mainelli who met with attendees and delivered a speech about the importance of this day.

As part of the event, we encouraged members to bring along items of clothing or food for our Donation Drive. We chose to support three charities to mark City Giving Day: The Trussell Trust, Smart Works Charity and Suited & Booted .

Within the LCCI team, we also hosted our staff Macmillan Coffee Morning. Our baking superstars brought in cakes and bakes to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Safe to say, this went down a treat in the staff room! Members of staff have also taken part in activities hosted by City Giving Day. Two groups enjoyed an informational walk and talk around the City of London, and our eggheads are gearing up to win big at the City Quiz Night this evening.

Thank you to everyone involved in this special day. It's highlighted the strength and unity of the City and the Chamber.
