Transforming the built environment

The built environment generates approximately 40% of our annual global carbon emissions and is a major contributor to climate change. The property and construction sector is on a mission to rapidly transform the built environment and achieve net zero carbon buildings but what are the opportunities and barriers to success?

An expert panel moderated by Mark Jenkinson, director of Crystal Associates and chair of LCCI’s Environment, Sustainability and Green Growth group, addressed these issues at a recent briefing and networking event at LCCI, specifically:

  • how to create a better built environment
  • going beyond construction
  • the challenges the industry faces in greening-up buildings, old and new
  • future pathways to success.
