100 days until Brexit

Wednesday 19 December 2018

Marking 100 days until Brexit, and commenting upon a possible No Deal scenario, Colin Stanbridge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:

“We are now 100 days away from a cliff edge ‘No Deal’ Brexit.

Talk of a ‘managed’ no deal is simply spun soundbite. Whether a conscious decision or a brinksmanship tactic with the EU, the Government are increasing the likelihood of No Deal and the economic disaster that would follow.

75% of the London businesses that we recently polled still have not made any provisions in preparation for Brexit. Given that 86% of London’s businesses employ under ten people they are too busy running their business to second-guess what this country’s exit from the EU looks like.

I’m not sure MPs even know what that looks like right now. But they need to find collective agreement on a deal quickly, as a No Deal scenario cannot be seen as anything other than a cliff-edge for the UK economy.”
