LCCI expresses support for Gatwick Airport

Friday 17 June 2022

Richard Burge, Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:

“The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry commends Gatwick Airport for their decision to reduce the number of scheduled flights over the summer. This will not have been an easy decision for Gatwick, especially given the revenue losses over the last two years. However, businesses and travellers alike need greater certainty on travel arrangements, and this will help ensure schedules are more stable and that we don’t see a repeat of the cancellation chaos of recent weeks.

It is important the Government does what it can to support travel and logistics operators – like Gatwick and others – and help get them on a firm footing for the long term. Airlines and airport operators have to make difficult decisions during this period in which they are facing challenges that are not of their own making.”
