LCCI reaction to Miliband speech

Commenting on today's speech by Ed Miliband and the final report of the Adonis Review, Colin Stanbridge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said: "LCCI welcomes the ambition to see the rest of the UK match the same level of economic success as London. However, the capital must not be denied the same level of financial freedom as other cities to safeguard its future.

"London and its local authorities need similar incentives, such as business rates retention, to enable projects to progress and to attract new business.

"We are pleased the Adonis Review acknowledges that development in London does not occur at the expense of the rest of the UK. If London is allowed to maximise its full economic potential, the rest of the country will benefit with it."
