LCCI respond to government's autumn and winter plan

Tuesday 14 September 2021.

Responding to the government publishing their plan for COVID-19 response during autumn and winter, LCCI CEO Richard Burge, said:

"Gladly we are heading toward autumn and winter, supported by vaccines, in a far better position than last year.

Businesses will welcome the government intention that the economy remains open throughout the coming months.

Many of London’s businesses also eagerly await the detail of the next international travel system review and hope that it helps to further safely return international visitors to London, as well as aid outbound business travel.

“Understandably, the government is keeping some measures in reserve, should the covid situation worsen over the coming months and a Plan B be required.

A reintroduction of guidance to work from home would bring obvious economic consequence for some sectors. Plan B should really provide an indication of business support, should that need to happen. As well as a guide to what indicators would trigger such a decision – whether regionally or nationally.”
