LCCI welcomes Sir Mark Rowley, new commissioner of the Metropolitan police

Thursday 14 July 2022

Richard Burge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), said:

“We are delighted to welcome Sir Mark Rowley, an experienced and well respected police officer, as the new commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. The increase we have seen in business crime since the beginning of the year has exacerbated the already challenging climate conditions for London businesses.

"The scourge of burglaries, assaults and criminal damage to business property puts an additional, avoidable stress on businesses that are already struggling under the weight of increasing energy prices, the cost-of-living crisis and post pandemic recovery. At the London Chamber, we stand ready to engage in dialogue with the new commissioner to offer our support to his work in tackling crime in London to ensure the continued prosperity of our capital city.”
