New Chairman of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry elected

Jeffrey Adams, Chairman of United House Group, has been elected as the new Chairman of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) after the retirement of Mark Adams at last night's Annual General Meeting.

Mark Adams, OBE retired after three years of service and the Board recommended to Council that Jeffrey Adams who was chairman of LCCI's Property and Construction Committee should succeed him.

Jeffrey Adams has led United House Group to become one of the leading specialist developers, contractors, and investors in the London housing market.

Geoffrey Riesel, Chairman Mountview House Group was elected Deputy Chairman.

Members of the Board heard reports from the Chairman and the Chief Executive, Colin Stanbridge about the progress and achievements of LCCI in the last year.

Mr Stanbridge said: "This was a momentous year in many ways and it is notable that we continued to grow in membership despite increasing competition and the background of a delicate economic environment.

"We continue to do all that we can to ensure that we remain relevant, that members
continue to be able to make a wide range of connections through their membership and that we deliver the exceptional level of customer service rightly expected of us."

The President, Tony Pidgley CBE, Chairman, The Berkeley Group also retired at the AGM, but a Special Resolution approved by members at the AGM allowed him to extend his period following his re-election. Subhash Thakrar will continue as Deputy-President under the same resolution.
