Case Study: Building Successful Member Connections
One Introduction, One Conversation, New Opportunities
At London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), we know that some of the most valuable business opportunities begin with a simple introduction.
Every year, our events bring together organisations from across London's business community, creating connections that spark collaborations, unlock expertise and generate tangible outcomes. This case study shows exactly how those connections can lead to meaningful impact.
When LCCI Patron Member University of East London and Premier Plus Member Inside Edge Productions first met at a London Chamber networking event, neither organisation knew where the conversation would lead. Months later, that connection became a collaborative workshop helping dozens of London businesses strengthen their digital marketing skills and online presence.
It is a powerful reminder that Chamber membership is more than networking. It's about building relationships that create opportunities for organisations, communities and the wider London economy.
From a Chamber Introduction to a Valuable Partnership
As part of its Creative Industries Festival 2026, University of East London hosted Grow London Local's popular Coffee Friday networking event at the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability.
The event attracted a record 85 start-ups and SMEs from across London, bringing together ambitious business owners, entrepreneurs and innovators looking to build connections and develop new skills.
Meeting at the London Chamber event led to Inside Edge Productions Founder Alan Wigley delivered a practical workshop at Coffee Friday. The session was designed specifically for small businesses with limited marketing resources, demonstrating how organisations can use smartphones to create engaging digital content, tell authentic stories and improve their online reach without significant investment.
The workshop provided attendees with accessible, actionable advice that they could immediately apply within their own businesses.
What began as a conversation evolved into a partnership that delivered real value for London's business community.
Delivering Skills and Supporting Growth
For many small businesses, producing professional marketing content can feel out of reach due to time, budget or resource constraints.
The session delivered by Inside Edge Productions focused on practical solutions, empowering attendees with the confidence and knowledge to create effective digital content using tools they already have.
By combining University of East London's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship with Inside Edge Productions' expertise in video content and storytelling, the partnership created an engaging learning experience that directly benefited businesses attending the event.
The collaboration demonstrates the impact that can be achieved when London Chamber members connect, share expertise and work together towards a common goal.
What Our Members Said
Chris Dodd, Head of Business Development, University of East London
"It was an absolute pleasure to collaborate recently with Alan from Inside Edge Productions to run a free practical workshop for a group of start-ups and SMEs to support them to develop their digital presence and communications.
The joint activity showed the power of collaboration, and the fact this all came from initially meeting at an LCCI event shows the strength of the Chamber in bringing people together to create new opportunities."
Alan Wigley, Founder, Inside Edge Productions
"I can still remember the exact moment I met Chris on a complete whim at a Chamber business event. Ninety-nine per cent of the time, these interactions never lead anywhere, but on this rare occasion, fate would have it we were meant to meet.
What Chris is doing at UEL is beyond inspiring, and it is an absolute privilege for Inside Edge to be a part of these initiatives, plans and goals the school has for its incredible pupils and associates.
I cannot wait to see where our partnership leads to next. Remember folks, all you need is your imagination…and a smartphone."
