Making a Difference at Queenhithe Beach for the Great British Beach Clean

For this year's Great British Beach Clean, we headed to Queenhithe Beach for our annual clean-up in partnership with LCCI Patron Member and Sustainability Programme Partner, Veolia UK.

Members of our Sustainability Committee, representatives from the Veolia and LCCI team, and members of our wider business community came together with a shared goal: helping to keep London's waterways and riverside spaces clean. Together, the group collected an impressive 26.1kg of litter, surpassing last year's total and demonstrating the power of collective action.

One encouraging observation from the day was that Queenhithe Beach appear to be getting cleaner year on year. However, the amount of litter collected also highlighted the importance of continuing practical initiatives such as these to help protect our local environment.

The event began with a welcome and introduction, followed by a health and safety briefing from Veolia before participants set out on the short walk from LCCI's HQ to the beach to collect litter and contribute to a cleaner, greener London.

Through initiatives like this, LCCI's Sustainability Group supports London's ambition to be a global leader in environmental excellence, sustainability and green growth. By bringing together businesses from across sectors, the group provides opportunities to share expertise, encourage collaboration and drive positive environmental change.
