LCCI response to further strikes on the London Underground

Friday 6 November 2026

Responding to the announcement of eight further strikes on the London Underground, Karim Fatehi OBE, Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:

“Announcing eight days of strike action across the London Underground, including two days in the run-up to Christmas, is deeply concerning for London businesses. The days immediately before Christmas are vital trading days for thousands of businesses across the capital, while hundreds of thousands of visitors come to London over the festive period to shop, dine, stay in hotels and enjoy everything the city has to offer.

“Disrupting the transport network at this time risks costing businesses valuable revenue, deterring visitors and making it harder for staff and customers to get around. Many businesses rely on the Christmas period to make up for quieter months and they should not have to face further uncertainty because of industrial action.

“London needs a reliable Underground service, particularly during its busiest trading period. We urge the RMT to reconsider this action and recognise the damage these strikes will cause to businesses, workers, residents and visitors across the capital.”
