LCCI takes its vision for London to MIPIM conference
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will next week outline its vision for London business growth to one of the world's most influential property events, MIPIM.
The Cannes based event attracts around 20,000 delegates and is a magnet for the most powerful people in the property industry.
Through a series of panel discussions and private lunches, LCCI will be outlining the policies and projects needed to keep London moving, growing and competitive over the coming decades, in particular:
The need for more and better housing for Londoners in response to growing concerns that increasing housing costs are affecting the capital's business community from recruiting and retaining the skilled workers they need to grow.
New road crossings between east and south east London to support housing development and business growth.
The need for short and medium term solutions to increase capacity at London airports to support exporters and attract foreign direct investment to the capital.
The LCCI delegation will be led by LCCI President and Chairman of Berkeley Group plc, Tony Pidgley, CBE and Jeffrey Adams, Group Chief Executive of United House Limited, together with the Chief Executive of LCCI, Colin Stanbridge. It will also include LCCI Patron Sponsors CBRE, CH2M HILL, Lend Lease and Crofton Design. LCCI will have a flagship stand in the London Pavillion designed and created by its creative partners Octink and Wagstaffs. Other sponsoring members of the delegation are LCCI members Calfordseaden, Chainbow, Middlesex University, Pellings, REC Environmental and Temple Group.
The London Pavilion is an area of the exhibition which brings together all the major developers and influencers behind the capital's major regeneration projects.
LCCI President and Founder and Chairman of Berkeley Group plc, Tony Pidgley, CBE said: "I am proud to be leading the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation to MIPIM this year as its President. During my term, I am keen to ensure that London has the houses and offices to keep London growing, the transport infrastructure to keep London moving, and the business environment to keep London competitive in a global market."
Chief Executive of LCCI, Colin Stanbridge said: "Attending MIPIM is a great way to meet the decision makers and influencers who really matter in the property world and advance the aims of LCCI in helping to create a better environment for business in the world's greatest city.
"This year we will be highlighting two crucial issues of interest to attendees at MIPIM. Firstly our call for more affordable housing to be created in London as businesses tell us that the spiralling cost of housing is resulting in problems in recruiting and retaining the talent that is fundamental to economic growth.
"Secondly the need for a new fixed river crossing for east London to help address one of the greatest barriers to development in that part of the capital.
"We are confident that taking part in such a high profile event will bring those campaigns to not only a much wider audience, but to the very people who have the power to help bring change."
