LCCI Welcome the Government's Positive Stance on Gatwick Northern Runway Decision

Karim Fatehi OBE, CEO of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said: “We are pleased to see that the Government has spoken positively about Gatwick Airport’s Northern Runway expansion plans.

“London’s status as a leading global city for business, tourism and trade is heavily reliant on the strength of the capital’s transport network. We can’t grow our economy without investment in new critical infrastructure, which helps businesses reach new customers and secure increased investment. This project will be fully funded by private investment – at no cost to the taxpayer – and will create 14,00 new jobs and generate £1 billion in economic benefits every year for the UK.

“Growth cannot come without investment in new infrastructure, which helps businesses to reach new customers and forge new trading relationships. The Government must consider further expansion plans for London airports which will help London’s business community to continue driving prosperity across the UK.”
