New President for London Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Thursday 12 September 2019

London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has announced that it has elected John Fallon as its new President.

Chief Executive of Pearson, the world’s learning company, John brings significant business experience to LCCI – the capital’s largest and most representative business support organisation.

Commenting upon his appointment, John Fallon, said: “I’m honoured to become the President of LCCI and look forward to playing a key role in helping to promote its impact and influence. A subject that both LCCI and Pearson is focused on is employability and ensuring people have the opportunity to develop a flexible set of skills to prepare them for the future world of work. I look forward to working with the LCCI on helping ensure that we maximise lifelong learning and career opportunities in the changing workplace that a global city like London has to offer.”

John took up the role of Chief Executive at FTSE100 company Pearson in January 2013, having held a number of roles in varying parts of the business since starting with Pearson as Director of Communications in 1997.

Prior to Pearson, John was Director of Corporate Affairs at Powergen, having previously held senior public policy and communications roles in local government.

John joins LCCI at a significant time for the London and UK economies, with the country scheduled to exit the European Union on 31 October.

The need for the right skills and immigration systems are high on LCCI’s domestic policy agenda, where John’s expertise at Pearson and his passion for lifelong learning will bring vital insight to LCCI and its member businesses.
