LCCI urge government to instil Test and Trace confidence

London Chamber of Commerce and Industry react to Test and Trace system failures.

Chief Executive, Richard Burge, said: “A fully functioning Test and Trace system is imperative for managing the spread of Covid19 and saving lives.

"But it is also vital to economic recovery, whether by instilling consumer confidence in areas of high population such as London, or avoiding businesses having to scale-back or shutdown due to reintroduced restrictions – whether locally or nationally.

"For full economic recovery we also need to reach a point where the system works in tandem with yet to be introduced arrangements for airport testing.

“Businesses will undoubtedly be concerned to see Test and Trace seemingly not holding up to demand at this stage. The Government must instil confidence in the integrity of the system immediately.”
