Customs Compliance Challenge

As a company involved in imports and/or exports, how prepared is your business for a customs audit? HMRC’s latest plans include the recruitment of 5,500 compliance staff – scrutiny and audits can only be set to increase. Do you have adequate records and procedures for your international trade activity to demonstrate you satisfy the current regulatory requirements? How well do your staff and departments understand the importance of these and the impact of their activity (or non-activity) – whether directly or indirectly – on the supply chain?

International trade is an increasingly complex area. Sanctions, embargoes, tariffs and trade negotiations regularly feature in the news. Customs investigations, non-compliance and penalty notices are increasingly being reported. Sadly, not all businesses have the resource for a dedicated compliance team, and all too often individual departments fail to comply with legal requirements and/or fail to understand the implications of some of their actions. How will your team meet the challenge? Find out by joining our interactive, half day session where we will highlight some of the key customs legislation and the type of records you should be keeping, offering practical examples and reliable reference sources to help you with your quest.
